Welcoming, comfortable and spotlessly clean - A very comfortable and clean stopover on our trip round Namibia. A warm welcome and great information provided instantly on what to see and where to eat. ... read more We had a restful stay and happily worked our way round the suggested 'eateries'. Visited the two local museums, one on local history and the other all about the fabulous semi precious stones being found and turned into beautiful jewellery. A restful 2 nights before setting off back out into the vast countryside.

Centrally located small but fine B&B - We spent one night in the lovingly designed small facility. In the distance, we could hear the sound of the sea. The breakfast buffet was the best we had in Namibia and clearly aimed at European guests. It is complemented by fresh egg dishes, which are prepared on request. The staff was extremely helpful, and assistance is also available in German at the reception. For a stay in the city – whether short or long – we can absolutely recommend the Cornerstone Guesthouse.

Check which room you're allocated before you stay - I had enjoyed my stay here so much in 2018 I decided to come back again. BUT BEWARE! Although the property advertises (and I quote) ‘Accommodation is made... read more up of seven light and spacious bedrooms’ they have since added new rooms which you enter from the back car park and which share a small dark astroturf courtyards and little available light through frosted windows. Note: There are no images of these rooms on their website! Whilst the rooms are outfitted pleasantly ‘beach house style’, we were put into Room 8 – a dark L shaped room whose one bedroom window was in the roof, obscured by a solar panel. There is no outside view from this room at all as the small door glass panel is frosted. This room was previously a kitchen area part of a suite (see image) but has been converted to another bedroom by the new owners. The room was so dark, we had to leave the lights on, the bathroom door open and the door to the room open to get reasonable light, even then the room was like a small dark cell reminiscent of posh backpacker accommodation. We were so disappointed by this experience we complained via our travel agent and were swiftly relocated to another sea-front property that they owned (separate review for that), but it shouldn’t have happened at all, and the overnight stay in this depressing room was awful. Breakfast was lovely, and staff were pleasant – Jackie in particular was very helpful. Laundry service was reasonable and quick. We fed back our experience to our agents both in Namibia and in the UK. My advice to you is to CHECK VERY CAREFULLY which room you’ll be staying in. if it’s 8 then definitely look to book elsewhere or request a significant discount for the small dark room. So sad to have to write this review after such a lovely stay in 2018 and completely avoidable. Never again!
